The AP introduced proposals to change how the Technology Unit operates. There are now 26-unit employees. AP earlier indicated it has more work than it can handle so it wants to reduce the organizational units from three to two units. The units are now the Global Help Desk, Customer Support and Field Services.
AP wants to combine GHD and CS so everyone can handle work within the two groups, which led the unit leadership to say the new workload would be impossible and the duties are very different. Training would have to be involved.
AP responded with a new Technology Support Specialist job description by combining the duties of the two units while spelling out how training would be provided.
John Braunreiter of Milwaukee, and Ed Morsett of Phoenix, who represent the unit, asked if it could lead to performance related terminations. AP said it wasn’t its intention to do that.
