he News Media Guild recently concluded an election for several vacant positions on the Executive Committee and the Representative Assembly. Per our bylaws, the Representative Assembly is the governing body of our local and is composed of volunteer representatives from each of the shops. The Executive Committee is a volunteer group of five members that carries out the day-to-day operations of the Local along with our paid staff.
All candidates ran unopposed, so they were declared elected. The union will set another election for positions still vacant.
These results were certified by the NMG Elections Committee.
Executive Committee
Kim Kruesi was elected to the role of First Vice President, succeeding John Braunreiter, who retired. Kruesi had been Third Vice President, but resigned to be eligible for the First Vice President position.
Representative Assembly
For the first time, members from Democracy Works, Financial Times and Oxford University Press elected colleagues to the Representative Assembly after recently securing their first collective bargaining agreements.
The delegate for Democracy Works will be Clementine Vasquez with Marlene Fernandez elected as an alternate.
For Financial Times, Amanda Chu is the delegate with the alternate position vacant.
The delegates for Oxford University Press will be Bailey Vehslage and Mark Longaker, with Holly Mitchell and Emma Paolini serving as alternates.
In addition, the Guardian U.S. unit elected Julian Motal as a delegate, with the alternate position still vacant.
Holly Ramer was elected as alternate for the AP East position, and Adrian Fullwood was elected as the AP technology unit delegate.
Congratulations to all!
